Larry Hurtubise
Larry Hurtubise is a curriculum and instruction consultant at The Ohio State University’s Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning. With over 25 years of experience in educational development, Larry has played a central role in advancing instructional design and educational technology adoption across multiple disciplines, particularly in health sciences education. He has served as Senior Instructional Designer in the Health Sciences Center for Knowledge Management and was a founding member of the College of Medicine’s Center for Education and Scholarship. Larry holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Ohio University, where his research focused on the professional identity formation of clinician educators. Currently, he leads initiatives on GenAI-enhanced teaching strategies and designs professional development programs that support faculty in navigating the evolving educational landscape. His collaborative work with colleagues like Melinda McClimans exemplifies his commitment to innovative, data-informed approaches to curriculum development and learner engagement.
Melinda McClimans
Melinda McClimans brings over two decades of experience in international education and exchange, with a career devoted to enriching liberal arts education through interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and real-world learning experiences. As Assistant Director of the Middle East Studies Center at The Ohio State University, she plays a leading role in developing programs that have engaged thousands of students and community members. Her professional interests lie in team-building, revitalizing liberal arts curricula, and aligning classroom learning with practical skills development. Melinda has authored and edited a wide range of academic and educational materials and is known for her ability to bridge organizational boundaries and foster collaboration. Her work is grounded in a regional focus on the Middle East, and she is committed to fostering community, creativity, and cross-disciplinary dialogue. In her current research, she is exploring how AI tools can enhance instructional feedback and student engagement—efforts that are already leading to programmatic innovation within her institution.
