Why He Chose the Applied AI Literacy Certificate
Before starting the course, he described himself as a “curious novice.” What stood out immediately was how some participants were already using AI regularly, which gave him both a challenge and an opportunity to learn.
“I found the activities particularly valuable because they gave me an opportunity to learn from the other participants. The review afterwards was also really useful when Mark set out some of the other considerations we might not have thought about.”
Experience During the Course
The course combined practical activities with discussions that deepened his understanding. One key learning was the concept of AI “hallucinations.”
“One of the specific things I learned on the course I found particularly interesting is that ChatGPT hallucinates — and what was particularly interesting was why it does that. Understanding AI's strengths enables us to make effective use of it. Understanding its limitations makes sure that we can do that responsibly and safely.”

“While I was on the course we took up ChatGPT for business. We're using it to help us communicate more effectively with specific audiences such as the board. We're also exploring it to help us be more efficient and to help us perform research on potential markets quickly.”
