This session introduces the essentials of Assistive Technologies to support learners with diverse accessibility needs, with a focus on literacy and communication tools.

Supporting Literacy with AT
An overview of the key features of Storyline and the Storyline workflow. Exploring the ‘Story View’ and ‘Slide View’. Tools for notetaking, focus, organisation, TTS, and STT.
Guided Practice Activities
Exploring and experimenting with assistive technologies during the session.
Post-Session Social Learning
Controlling the slide timing and working with animations.Community-based discussion and tool-sharing in the learning platform.

Tutor: Eva Kilar-Magdziarz & Sue Meehan
Eva Kilar-Magdziarz
Eva is a Course Director at Digital Learning Institute. She has extensive experience in the educational context working on curriculum design, digital learning strategies, teaching, training and supporting in the field of instructional design, rolling out online learning. She has been working across multiple sectors as well as within primary, secondary and higher education as a teacher, teacher trainer, tutor and director of studies.
Eva holds a MSc degree in Applied in Learning as well as a MA degree in English philology, BA in Teaching English as a Second Language and Translation and Interpreting. Her field of research and interest would be instructional design with the focus on effective multimedia design for languages as well as accessibility in digital learning.
Sue Meehan
Sue is an Assistive Technology Specialist and ADHD Coach with extensive experience supporting learners in higher education. She works at South East Technological University (SETU), where she leads the development of inclusive learning practices and student transition programmes. Sue’s expertise bridges digital accessibility, neurodiversity support, and the integration of AI tools to enhance learner independence. She is a regular speaker on inclusive education and has delivered webinars and training on the role of emerging technologies in creating more equitable digital learning environments.
